Each round starts with the dealer distributing two cards each to the Player hand and the Banker hand. Both hands are face up. Card values are straightforward: Aces count as one, number cards count at face value, and tens and face cards count as zero. The hand with a total closest to nine wins. If a hand total goes above nine — say, seven plus six equals thirteen — only the last digit counts, so that hand is worth three.
A natural is when either hand is dealt eight or nine on the first two cards. This automatically ends the round. Otherwise, a third card may be drawn for either hand based on fixed rules — you don't decide this, the game handles it automatically.
Your three betting options are Player (pays 1:1), Banker (pays 1:1 minus 5% commission), and Tie (typically pays 8:1). Most experienced baccarat players bet Banker the majority of the time because of its statistical edge, and avoid Tie bets due to their high house advantage despite the attractive payout.
